Introduction to Ukrainian Language and Culture
Open to anyone, this five-week course is intended for complete beginners wishing to develop basic communicative skills in Ukrainian (mostly speaking and listening, but also reading and writing) and to get acquainted with modern Ukrainian society and culture.
The course fee for students, staff of the University, and members of the public is £20.
The next Ukrainian course will take place starting from Tuesday 13th February 2024 and will run until Tuesday 19th March 2024. It will take place from 17:30-19:20 in Hicks, F20. You can apply to take the course here.
Ukrainian Conversion Course for Specialists
Open to learners and heritage speakers of another Slavonic language, this five-week course provides an accelerated introduction to Ukrainian language alongside a deeper understanding of Ukrainian culture.
Based on two contact hours per week, this not-for-credit course will be timetabled at a convenient time for all participants. Courses start on Wednesday 14th February 2024 and run until Wednesday 20th March 2024. The classes will take place 13:00-14:50 in 38 Mappin Street G03 - Classroom 3.
Registration is free for students of the University and a £20 fee applies otherwise. As places are limited to 20, we kindly request that you only apply if you can make the necessary commitment. Please also note that preference may be give to Years 2 and 4 students on the BA in Modern Languages and Culture already studying Czech, Polish, or Russian with the MLTC. We will hopefully be able to repeat the course next academic year.
