Postgraduate taught courses
We offer MA degrees in Philosophy, Cognitive Studies, and Political Theory. Our Philosophy MA is a flexible introduction to postgraduate study in Philosophy, whilst the interdisciplinary Political Theory and Cognitive Studies MAs benefit from teaching contributions from other departments.
Masters courses
Postgraduate Diploma
The department offers a Postgraduate Diploma in Philosophy, following the same pattern as the MA Programmes but assessed by coursework essays alone (with no dissertation).
The course runs for nine months.
Candidates take four modules (120 credits), and write four essays of 4-6,000 words, or eight essays of 2-3,000 words.
We do not accept candidates onto the Diploma directly. All students are admitted onto the MA initially, but may be transferred to the Diploma Programme in the course of the year.
International Merit Scholarships
We offer a generous package of financial support for international students including 75 undergraduate scholarships worth £10,000 towards the annual tuition fee and 125 postgraduate taught scholarships worth £5,000 towards the tuition fee. Applications are now open for existing offer holders.
