Competition Funded PhD Project (UK Students Only)

Measuring oxygen levels in children is crucial, often considered as important as monitoring other vital signs like heart rate and temperature. However, doing so in infants and pre-schoolers outside of hospitals can be challenging. The Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering at the University of Sheffield invites applications for a project entitled 'Improving oxygen monitoring technology for young children and infants'.

Entry requirements

Candidates are expected to have a background in one of the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Material Engineering, Bioengineering, Control, or a related field. Applicants should have, or expect to achieve a first or upper second class UK honours degree or equivalent qualifications gained outside the UK in an appropriate area of study.

Competition Funded PhD Project (Students Worldwide)

In support of the research activities of the EPRSC-funded Future Electrical Machines Manufacturing Hub, the University of Sheffield is offering a funded PhD scholarship to undertake research in the development of digital twin and digital product passports for high-value electric machines to support their end-of-life decisions. We invite applications for a project entitled 'Developing digital twin and digital product passports for high-value electric machines to support their end-of-life decisions'.

This project will require candidates to have excellent engineering and computational skills. It will be an advantage if the candidates have a relevant Master’s degree (or equivalent) in any of the following: computer science, data science, systems engineering, software engineering, or a related engineering subject.
