From Engines to Atoms

Materials Science and Engineering brings together the best bits of chemistry, physics, maths, biology and engineering, and finds out how they interact.

On this Taster Day, you will find out what it is like to be an undergraduate Materials Science and Engineering student, learning both theory and practice in our Engineering Diamond Building. You will take part in an interactive tabletop representation of a first year lab and lecture-linked demonstration with blow torches. There will be a chance to quiz current students on their experiences of applying and studying here, along with academics from the department.

You will also hear from Lewis, one of our lecturers in the department, who will explore with you one area of how Materials Scientists and Engineers can apply their knowledge to the Aerospace industry.
