Guidance on completing the personal statement
The online application will ask you to complete a statement, which forms part of our evaluation.
You should consider how your previous education and work experience relates to the programme, and how it fits into your long-term career plans.
We would like you to address the following questions (200 words for each question):
- Why do you want to join Sheffield MBA and any other information you want to include in support of your application
- How do you think you stand out based on your professional experience and any other notable achievements?
- How will you contribute to the Sheffield MBA?
- How will you benefit from our focus on consultancy, entrepreneurship and leadership?
- What are your career aspirations and how will The Sheffield MBA help you achieve those?
Key dates and deadlines
The Sheffield MBA receives many more applications than we have places available and it is highly competitive. To manage the competition for places on the programme, we operate a staged admissions process, with application and decision deadlines throughout the year. Your application will only be considered for your chosen round if it is fully completed by the deadline date.
Application deadlines for the Sheffield MBA starting in September 2023 are shown below.
Stage | For applications received by | We aim to return decisions by | Offer-holders should pay their fee deposit by |
---|---|---|---|
A | 3 November | 1 December | 29 December |
B | 29 December | 2 February | 1 March |
C | 1 March | 28 March | 26 April |
D | 26 April | 24 May | 21 June |
E | 21 June | 19 July | 16 August |
After you apply
All applications received by the deadline given for each stage will be reviewed by our MBA admissions team.
If your application is successful at the initial review, you will be invited to attend an interview. If you are unable to attend the interview in person we will arrange with you for this to be online.
Attending an interview is a requirement of the MBA admissions process. Due to a high level of demand and limited availability, applicants are expected to make every effort to attend their interview.
Interviewed applicants will be informed of the outcome of their interview on or before the ‘decisions returned by’ dates as outlined in table above for each stage.
