This is one of our most popular courses as it provides a thorough understanding of the field of electrical and electronic engineering. Our graduates progress to successful careers across a diverse number of sectors including aerospace, renewable energy, automotive and manufacturing.

Our courses

All our courses are accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). If you take our three year BEng you will need to complete some further learning to satisfy the requirements to achieve Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

A four year MEng meets all the academics standards for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

Once you’ve successfully completed the foundation year, which has modules in mathematics, physics and chemistry, you can start your main degree.

Year in industry

All of our courses are available with a one-year placement in industry. You will have the opportunity to put your academic studies into context and enhance your employability prospects. With help from our careers and placements team you will find and secure your own placement. You'll have a placement in industry lasting for at least 38 weeks.

Tudor chose a degree with a Year in Industry to have the opportunity to have access to work in different environments which he achieved during his year long placement at McLaren.

Sheffield is also home to a large International College which offers foundation pathways onto our degree courses for overseas students.

International Merit Scholarships

We offer a generous package of financial support for international students including 75 undergraduate scholarships worth £10,000 towards the annual tuition fee and 125 postgraduate taught scholarships worth £5,000 towards the tuition fee. Applications are now open for existing offer holders.
