Thank you to students, staff and members of the public who shared thoughts or asked questions at our consultation events on 16 May and 4 July and/or provided feedback via the Google Form.

The drop-ins were hosted by members of the design team, including the project architects, with presentation boards showing the initial design concepts.

Our Google Form which provided the opportunity to give anonymous feedback, which was available from 4 May to 1 August, is now closed.

We will be considering the feedback as we prepare the building planning application which will be submitted to Sheffield City Council in 2024.

We will update this page when the planning application is submitted and accessible on the Council's website - so that comments can be made on the application as per the Council's process which is explained on their Search, view and comment on planning applications page.

About the project

Our new Central Teaching Laboratories (CTL) development will be a world class teaching facility, enhancing the student experience and building on our reputation for excellence.

It will mark a significant change for how science and some related subjects are taught here at Sheffield, allowing the vast majority of laboratory teaching to take place across one building, consolidating expertise and promoting collaboration.

We are creating a state-of-the-art, modern design, which will be a flagship building for Sheffield.
